Abortion is Not a Choice

Jesus is anti-abortion! With abortion in the news these days and "Right to Life Sunday" last week, it is important that we think clearly about this subject. Abortion is the taking of a baby who is to be born and destroying him/her limb from limb. If not destroying limb from limb, it is burning them alive with a salt solution. Far from being harmless and a "painless procedure" it is most unusually cruel to the murdered baby and causes great harm to the would-be mother (often these poor women have nightmares and permanent emotional damage for life). Abortion is not a choice!

If the Bible is the Number One Best Seller of all time how come it is the least read, little practiced, under-rated, under-appreciated, and least known about book in the World?

If we read and practiced what the Bible says, Porn would not be a problem in the Church; divorce would not divide members in the church; finances would not fail so often (implementing the Bible's hard work policy); and many other maladies would be avoided.

Does your pastor teach the Word of God? I mean does he teach you systematically, verse by verse through books of the Bible? If not either encourage him to do so, or find another Pastor!I am a pastor and have been blessed to teach 1 John, Titus, and am now teaching Genesis in less than a year (and my co-pastor taught Jude). Amazing riches await the one who would devote himself to the deep treasures of Scripture!

Sick! This week that word described me...I had some kind of cold that even affected my breathing. At night I would cough and gag. After plenty of self-medicating I went to the Walgreens Clinic and saw a Physician’s Assistant. She was great, listening to my symptoms and history and then prescribing some kind of steroid medication to help my breathing and recovery.

During this time of sickness I have realized that good health is not something to be taken for granted. The time of being low on energy made me realize at least the following things:

-I need to exercise regularly to avoid getting into this bad shape again.
-I need to eat healthier for the same reason.
-I need to appreciate the opportunity to teach God's Word each week-when it's hard to talk and breathing is not as easy normal, it is not a simple thing to preach (nor is it easy when you are not sick)
-I need to appreciate and treat everyone around me better realizing that they are as fragile most times as I am when sick.
-I need to thank God for each day of healthy living!
-I need to quit stressing out about things I cannot control.
-I need to take vitamins, not just vitamin C!

GENESIS 1

God made the world through Jesus Christ! This is part of the Christian message in Scripture. Sunday night we looked at Genesis 1 verse by verse at Grace Chapel. We saw the creation of all things by God.

Man, we saw was made by God to be his vice-regent in ruling over the creation. He was to have dominion and to subdue. It is a great responsibility that we have as human beings to steward the world that God has made. This has implications in all areas-politics, sociology, ecology, education etc. We as God's people are to be part of His redemption of all things through Jesus Christ-essentially His re-creation of all things.

Availability!

Availability-this is a word you often think of when your work asks you "What are your hours of availability?" But do we think hard enough about the availability of our pastors. I remember one particular minister growing up that I could never seem to get a hold of. Not everyone is called to be the pastor’s best friend, and perhaps that was my fault back then, but they are at least supposed to be able to get a hold of him!
Now, as I myself am a pastor I wonder at the fact that so many churches have pastors who cannot be contacted-while I myself am available and have plenty of time to take calls (I've yet to not answer a call with the attitude that I am too busy!)
"Pastors, we are not professionals!" And even if we were, why would we want to treat our customers like burdens instead of blessings? Pastors, be available!

Despise Not the Day of Small Things

This is where I got my start preaching! Bosworth Baptist Church out in the country of Missouri. The people there were very gracious to me and more than generous...better then I deserve. God opened the pastorate to me there as an answer to my prayers that He would confirm my calling to ministry. There were plenty of challenges, but I learned a lot and owe the people a great debt! Ignore the date on the photo-I was pastor there from October 2007 to April 2008.

"Do not despise the day of small things."

This week, I was on the radio helping to host a Christian call-in show. Guests call in each week to ask area pastors difficult questions about the Bible. One of the inquiries this week was "Can a woman hold the office of Bishop?"

There were two pastors who said that a woman cannot hold the office and there were two women pastors hosting the show with us men. I answered the question this way:
This is a very controversial question. There is some evidence in the New Testament that there were possibly women Apostles in the Early Church. There were women deacons for sure. The fact that women pastors today are preaching the Gospel should encourage the men to step up. I also stated that I am glad the Gospel is preached, however it is preached.

Lastly, I'd like to add that the office of "bishop" is the same as that of "elder" and "pastor" in the New Testament, so that the three terms are interchangeable. There are only two offices-Bishop and Deacon. I as a Pastor am also a Bishop. The use of the term Bishop to differentiate between “a pastor” and “a pastor of pastors” was not until about the time of Ignatius of Antioch and later.
